"Construction of a new site for waste disposal Neochim AD Dimitrovgrad"

 

The new landfill for the disposal of hazardous waste "Neochim" AD Dimitrovgrad is located on the right terrace of the Maritsa River, 5km away east of the town of Dimitrovgrad. On the landfill are deposited 517 900 m3 hazardous waste.

Leachate from the landfill will be collected in 2 pcs. square pump shafts with dimensions 2,50m/2,50m. In the pumping wells submersible drainage pumps will be installed for transferring by pumping 5 l / s infiltrate through a pressure pipeline DN80 (346m length) , discharging into the shaft of the site's sewage collector for contaminated water, DN400 stoneware pipes leading contaminated water to the currently operating site Neutralization station of "Neochim" AD, which is a treatment plant for industrial wastewater.

After filling the volume of the landfill a technical and biological recultivation has been carried out, which led to the improvement of the surrounding landscape.

Expansion of the regional landfill for solid waste - city Madan and construction of sites for pre-treatment of municipal waste Madan, Zlatograd and Nedelino /Revision 1/

 

Throughout the duration of the project development (from 2009 until 2011) the waste disposal on the existing Landfillbody is not suspended. In the project development from 2011 actions related to further strengthen the already existing wastebody have been taken.

There are stiffening structures reinforced embankment type (Construction 1 and construction 2) to bring the body of existing landfill in stable condition and to enable the implementation of the technical project for expansion of the landfill. The functionality and static scheme of action of the constructions give priority to both, to build up the existing body of the landfill and the need to build additional stabilizing device for reliable construction and operation of the new cells.

Working design under the program for elimination of environmental damage before the privatization of the site of Old Soda Plant – Devnya

 

The working project was developed on individual subprojects identified in the independent assessment of the past environmental damage of the old soda factory Devnya. Along with the recovery of the soil of the site by removing the contaminated soil from old pollutions and backfill with uncontaminated soil, a landfill for hazardous waste is constructed in full compliance with current regulations in force.

As a separate sub-project a site treatment plant was developed.

The aim of the treatment facility to purify both contaminated groundwater by petroleum as well as leachate from the landfill for hazardous waste. For this purpose, one of the tanks of the ''New water block" of sizes 4/6 / 12m, after being repaired is used as equalizer-averager. The water to be purified shall enter the device in two ways: by tanker the contaminated with petroleum groundwater and by pump the leachate from the landfill for hazardous waste at a common rate of 5 l/s. A physical-chemical water treatment is taking place.

Landfill Elhovo

 

The technical design "Closure and Recultivation of landfill of Elhovo" was developed by the company RECO Engineering Ltd. in 2010. The existing landfill (dumpsite) is located about 1 km west of the town Elhovo toward the village Izgrev. By commissioning the regional landfill for the municipality Elhovo and Bolyarovo the existing municipal landfill (dumpsite) with an area 70.91 dka of the town Elhovo was used.

 

The project provides the existing landfill site of the municipality Elhovo to be recultivated. The design provides upper insulating layer, monitoring system and more. For collecting of leachate the construction of a shaft is forseen from where the leachate will be transported to the sewage system Elhovo. For the released gas during the decomposition of the waste a gas well located in the highest part of the landfill is designed. There is a gas burner with a crane for burning the landfill gas.

 

At the end of 2015 the construction works for the technical recultivation are realized. After the technical recultivation has been fulfilled, the biological recultivation is currently (2016) in implementation.

Landfill Dimitrovgrad, village of Dobrich

 

The detailed design "Closure and Recultivation of landfill of Dimitrovgrad" was developed by the company RECO Engineering Ltd.

                   

The site of the existing old landfill for solid waste of Dimitrovgrad, subject to recultivation, is located on the right terrace of Banska river, about 5km southwest of Dimitrovgrad, close to the road Dimitrovgrad - village of Dobrich. It occupies an area of 26 536.8 m2, which shall be reduced to 26.219dka after recultivation.

 

The disposal and reclamation area of the existing waste landfill consists of a wastebody formed on the existing ones; Gas drainage layer upon the waste with gas wells; reclamation layers which seal up the waste; collection system for the infiltrated contaminated water - drainage and collecting shaft; system for collection and disposal of clean surface water; monitoring system of piezometers; access road for subsequently monitoring of the site.

 

At the end of 2015 the construction works for the technical recultivation are realized. After the technical recultivation has been fulfilled, the biological recultivation is currently (2016) in implementation.

Landfill Knezha

 

The detailed design "Closure and recultivation of the municipal landfill for municipal solid and non-hazardous waste in the area "Merata" territory of the town Knezha" was developed by "RECO Engineering" Ltd, Sofia.

 

The accumulated waste on the landfill are located on a total area of 156,4dka, including 129.4decare polluted with waste natural terrain as well as terrain with waste disposed on the clay career. The recultivated landfill for municipal waste is of a total area 15.43decares. The total area concerned is surrounded by the borderline including infrastructure (ditches, pits, pipelines).

 

Designed for: gas drainage layer over the waste and gas wells; recultivation layers which seal the waste; collection system for the infiltrated contaminated water. The collected leachate shall be transported to the wastewater treatment plant of Knezha. The design includes as well a system for the collection and disposal of clean surface water; monitoring system; access road and more.

 

At the end of 2015 the construction works for the technical recultivation are realized. After the technical recultivation has been fulfilled, the biological recultivation is currently (2016) in implementation.

Landfill Levski

 

The detailed design "Recultivation of the site: Landfill for solid waste of thr Municipality Levski" was developed by the designers of "RECO Engineering" Ltd, Sofia as subcontractors. With the realization of the project under consideration  closure and reclamation of the landfill will be implemented, then the terrain will be available to be used for other applications by the Municipality of Levski.

 

Before recultivation the existing wastes occupy an area of about 164.378 dka. The dump is located about 150m from the river Osam.

 

The Municipal landfill of Levski municipality will be closed and a technical and biological recultivation will be carried out. The disposal and reclamation area of the existing waste in the landfill amounts to 10.847dka. Due to pushing and compaction of waste reduction of the area occupied by waste shall be achieved. An area of 153,531 dka shall be released.

 

The technical reclamation provides alignment on the bottom of the landfill and waste compaction; landfill body shaping in an appropriate manner; The collected leachate shall be transported for treatment; Construction of gas drainage with gas well in the already reclaimed waste body; Implementation of biological reclamation, covering with grass; Establishment of a monitoring system.

 

After the technical reclamation it is planned a biological recultivation to be carried out in a way which allow subsequent use of the recultivated terrain in a desired manner of Levski municipality.

Landfill Vulkan

 

The detailed design "Repair of the recultivation layers and drainage of surface water of the landfill for industrial waste of the plant Vulcan" was developed by the company RECO Engineering Ltd.

Of the landfill subject of present work are disposed industrial waste from unos by cottrell filters, worn out coating chunks of refractory bricks. The waste disposal is performed upon the ground.

In 2008 the recultivation of the landfill has been completed and the same has been put into operation according Permission for use № ST-12-571 / 24.06.2008.

 

Currently monitoring is performed of landfill body and groundwater quality. The technical and biological recultivation is performed according to the project documentation for recultivation in fulfilling layer of clay 50 cm and 50 cm layer of humus.

Landfill Ruse

 

The detailed designs for Recultivation of cell I for non-hazardous waste on the territory of "regional landfill for non-hazardous, inert and hazardous waste for the municipalities of Ruse, Ivanovo, Slivo pole and Tutrakan" as well as Recultivation of cell II at the same lanfill were prepared by the company RECO engineering Ltd.

The landfill site is located in the western dry valley in the area "Podormana" east of Ruse.

The main project of landfill for solid municipal, industrial, construction and hazardous waste - Ruse was developed by the Danish company "COWI" in 2002, and was built under the ISPA program.

 

The total project area of cell 1 for closure after a suitable shaping of the waste, consist of F = 35dka. After reaching the design elevations and shaping of the waste body, according to the design, begins the construction of the technical recultivation. It consists of construction of top insulation layer and construction of recultivation layer according to the regulations in force.

 

At the end of 2015 the construction works for the technical recultivation are realized. After the technical recultivation has been fulfilled, the biological recultivation is currently (2016) in implementation.

 

The total project area of cell 2 for closure after a suitable shaping of the waste consists of F = 19.4dka. After reaching the design elevations and shaping the waste body, according to the design, begins the construction of the technical recultivation. It consists of construction of top insulation layer and construction of recultivation layer according to the regulations in force. The top insulation layer is constructed with the aim of superficial sealing of the landfill. It is designed according to the calculated volume of accumulated waste and allows natural inclusion of the landfill into the existing landscape.

 

With this design additional measures are provided to improve the drainage of surface water from the landfill body and prevention of penetration of atmospheric water in depth. To this purpose, the repairs of the upper liner according to the regulation in force and subsequentialy biological recultivation are envisaged. The project envisages repair work only along the ridge of the landfill and construction of ditches in the ridge and in the lower part. The wood cover on slopes will not be violated.
